A Scientist’s Primer on Depression

Above is a video recording of a brief Depression Awareness talk I delivered to the Johns Hopkins East Baltimore Campus (School of Public Health, School of Nursing and School of Medicine) on March 13th, 2019.  This was a Special Seminar co-sponsored by the Department of Mental Health and the Johns Hopkins Student Assistance Program in affiliation with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and the April 13th, 2019 Out of the Darkness Suicide Awareness Campus Walk.

This work is based on the evidence-based Adolescent Depression Awareness Program (ADAP) created at Johns Hopkins by Dr. Karen Swartz and others.

Special thanks to Dr. Paul Nestadt, Dr. Holly Wilcox, Dr. Amy Honigman, Dr. Matthew Welch, Dr. Diana Bautista, Dr. David Bilder, Katie Conlon, Angie Lin, Ben Ackerman and Calliope Hollingue for their comments and suggestions on the content of this talk.
